REVIEWING THE RIGHTS AND NEEDS OF THE AGEING POPULATIONS
This is how we’re going to work
- First step. Completing the autonomous work and group session in the main course
- Second step. Create a poster about the rights of the eldery
- Third step. Present it to the rest of the group
From the previous session, focus on the “Human Rights Manifesto” by AGE.
- Older women and men have the same rights as everyone else
- Older people should have equal opportunities
- Respecting older people’s rights benefits society as a whole
- States need to take action to ensure equal rights across the lifecourse
- Older people should be at the centre of processes that affect their lives
- A UN convention will help older people contribute, prosper and equally enjoy their rights
- Binding human rights commitments need to be applied through regional, national and local action
